Fortnite's Competition that Came Out a Few Days Ago, Apex Legends
Just 4 days ago on February 4th, Apex Legends was launched. For a long time, Fortnite didn't have really any competition with possibly a little competition with Call of Duty's Battle Royale Mode, Realm Royale, or some other game that was created to hop on the new video game style, battle-royale. But we can't say that anymore because Apex Legends is on the market now, even beating Fortnite in some aspects. In the first 72 hours of the game's release, it already hit 10 million players, bypassing Fortnite's record that was thought to be crazy.
Respawn Entertainment, with the help of Electronic Arts, created Apex Legends and it is blowing up on the market. With its price tag being free, many people are downloading it just to get into the action. Even many Twitch streamers are moving over to Apex Legends to try the game out. The viewers on Twitch are double of what Fortnite is right now. Even Tyler Blevins, Ninja, a long time Fortnite player since the start, has hopped onto Apex Legends. By the way, check out our post on Ninja right here.
Apex Legends consists of 60 player matches, 20 teams of 3 players. Currently, this is the only mode the game has, but we'll probably see new modes in the future. Something that Respawn Entertainment should add is modes that allow you to do duos or solos so mix up the fun. The game came out only a few days ago, so I'm not going to hate the game only because there is only a mode of teams of 3. Still, Apex Legends is a game that can replace Fortnite to start a new generation of gamers (Fornite is much older than just a year now).
Apex Legends has many different weapons ranging from snipers to machine guns. There's also armor to aid you in battle, what Fortnite doesn't have. Like any battle-royale game, Apex Legends has a map with specific marked locations. Each game is split into rounds and every round, the boundaries get smaller and smaller. This forces the teams to merge together and make a team go victorious.
The map is packed with different biomes with even a snow biome. The map has many small buildings with weapons and items used for battle that are scattered throughout the map. There are many high points in the map to snipe from as well as places to hide to take down a nearby approaching player. Using the graphics that look a little cartoon-ish and a little realistic was a good idea on Respawn's part of creating the game. It creates an amazing view for a map, especially a view from the sky such as the one above this text.
Apex Legends is rivaling Fortnite and blowing up on the market. It's breaking records and is a new battle-royale game that is open. Since it's free to play, many people are hopping on the game fad, similar to what happened with Fortnite. Also, streamers and YouTubers are hopping on the game as well to make some side money. Respawn Entertainment released their game at a good time and if they had a plan to take down Fortnite, they might just succeed.
